Echoes Of is a group of 9 high-flying musicians who propose to explore and illustrate the sound of the emblematic cities of funk between 1975 and 1985. For each project, the city and the repertoire of covers highlighted change, with a different singer joining them to become the ‘ambassador’.
For the past four years, Echoes Of have been shaking up the Parisian funk scene as part of an unprecedented monthly residency at the New Morning. With the famous club of the capital as a backdrop, Echoes Of has developed in a dazzling way. This was followed by quarterly residencies in London at the biggest funk party in town, ‘The South London Soul Train Party’, or the thematic day ‘Libère Ton Funk’ at the Ground Control in Paris, as well as appearances in Nantes, Rennes, Grenoble and Lyon. A concept in perpetual expansion which does not cease renewing itself by adding new cities to the repertory.
For the moment Echoes Of exists in the colors of : CHICAGO (Chaka Khan, Earth Wind and Fire, Omni), DETROIT (One Way, Bohannon, Carl Carlton), LOS ANGELES (Teena Marie, Rose Royce, Taste of Honey), MINNEAPOLIS (Prince, The Time, André Cymone), WASHINGTON (Trouble Funk, Soul Searchers, Chuck Brown), PHILADELPHIA (O’Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, Bunny Sigler), DAYTON (Ohio Players, Sun, Lakeside), MIAMI (KC & The Sunshine Band, Gwen McCrae, T-Connection), SAN FRANCISCO (Con Funk Shun, Maze, Larry Graham) Soon NEW ORLEANS, MEMPHIS, ATLANTA, NEW YORK and other international cities like LONDON, TOKYO, RIO, PARIS.
Much more than a simple cover band, Echoes Of has become a master in the art of cover songs to the point of being spotted and solicited by emblematic singers of the golden age of funk. Visiting Europe, these internationally renowned artists such as Howard Johnson, Junior Giscombe, Marva King and soon Steve Arrington, come looking for the sound and spirit of Echoes Of to accompany them on stage!
