HASTINGS EARLY MUSIC FESTIVAL – SOUNDS BAROQUE

30th September 2022 at 7:00 pm
Concert by Candlelight - New Horizons: Conveying the thrilling theatricality and intense passion of music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

‘New Horizons– Locke to Locatelli

Daring dissonances, compelling rhetoric and angst-ridden affects… What makes Baroque music eternally new and life-affirming? Here, the synthesis of musical styles in Muffat’s Armonico tributo contrasts strongly with depictions of warfare and wild dancing. The exquisite Bach A min Violin Concerto contrasts with Locatelli’s temperamental ‘Song without Words’. Comprising some of the finest period instrumentalists of our time, Sounds Baroque is heard regularly on Radio 3, has appeared at major London venues and at international festivals.
